Final round of the New Zealand Rally Championship - Round 4 of the Mainland Series The Nelson Car Club Rally Organising Committee welcomes you to the 2009 RALLY OF NELSON The Nelson Car Club is proud to once again be hosting the Final Round of the 2009 Vantage Aluminium New Zealand Rally Championship, and the round 4 of the Mainland Rally Series. This year will see some big changes to the format of our event, with the biggest change being that the rally will be run over 2 days. Recce for those taking part will be held on Friday 18th September. Saturday will see the rally coming to Nelson City, beginning with a pre-event car display in Trafalgar St, which will be followed by the Ceremonial Start at approx 10.30am. From there, competitors will tour to the 1st Special Stage 15 minutes from Nelson City. Saturday will be based on the Nelson side of the Spooners range, and will give spectators more opportunies to see everyone in action. With approx 133km of Special over some very nice roads (2 new roads), and an anticipated finish of around 4pm, Saturady should be a compact and relaxed day of rallying. Sunday is based on the Tapawera side of the Spooners and will see a mixture of roads used recently and roads from a few years ago. The final roads have not been finalised for the Sunday yet but will give competitors between 115 and 150km of some of Nelson finest forest roads. It is anticipated that the 1st car will finish back at WOW around 3pm. Who are the People that make the rally happen? The current Rally Organiseing Committee are a very dedicated group of people – dedicated to making this an enjoyable, safe, successful event. Some have competed in rallies before, some have never rallied, but we are all here for the same purpose – because we love rallying. The organising commitee have proved over the years that they know what competitors want - as each year our entry list has grown and we always have competitors telling us they “Will be back”. Out there braving the elements, there will be the people that no rally can do without – the Volunteers. Without them, we could not run our rally. Whether they are in a start crew, a finish crew, a service park crew, a block marshal or spectator marshal, we cannot do with out them. Taking on one of these roles is one of the best ways to get up close and personal to the action, so if you would like to get out there amongst it all, then please contact Delwyn either by phone or on the links provided below.
